CUTTY SARK MUSEUM MODEL 44" LIMITED
Launched in1869, in Dumbarton on the Scottish Clyde, to carry tea on the China Run. Due to a new hull shape that was stronger, could take more sail and be driven harder than any other, the Cutty Sark was the fastest ship taking the Cape of Good Hope route. Named for a young, swift, beautiful witch in a Robert Burns poem, the ship became the stuff of legend. Built to impress, this magnificent all wood model is built much like the original, each plank is painstakingly added to the hull piece by piece by master builders. The copper hull sheathing is aged to appear just as on the original. Every detail has been recreated from original drawings and photographs, hand painted, with expertly sewn sail.
